What training/certification do staff have?

We know that great staff are one of the most important parts of a successful childcare centre, so we have carefully selected each member of our team for the skills and knowledge they bring to FFCC. We are also committed to on-going training and development to ensure our staff stay up-to-date with developments in their field.

All of our staff have gone through the same rigorous interview process, hold current CPR and First Aid certifications, and have completed a Police Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Search with the North Bay Police Service. All Early Childhood Educators (ECE) teachers are required to be members of the College of Early Childhood Educators.

What are your ratios?

We are required to follow the ratios set out in Ontario’s Day Nursery Act. During our regular hours required ratios are:

Infants (0 to 18 months): 1 teacher to 3 children
Toddlers (18 to 30 months): 1 teacher to 5 children
Pre-school (2 ½ to 5 years): 1 teacher to 8 children
During sleep/rest time and the first and last 2 hours of the day required ratios are:

Will my child go outside?

Absolutely. We believe that a key part of a child’s day is getting to play outside. Weather permitting, we spend an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon outside enjoying the fresh air. Please ensure that your child has appropriate clothing to wear based on the day’s forecast.

What does my child do all day?

Children will be engaged in activity and play at all times of the day. Each classroom will have a dramatic play centre, arts and crafts, gross motor and fine motor activities, library area and much more.
