Our teachers shape their environments to provide more opportunities for children to have uninterrupted periods of play; using the environment to enhance learning, providing time through the daily schedule and reflecting on the curriculum to ensure we meet all the children needs. Our Centre follows the play based and inquiry based learning set out by the Ontario Government. All materials are at eye level which allows for children to explore everything in their own classroom.
Observation & Documentation
Our teachers actively observe the children’s play and document examples of learning and skill development in play through photographs, artwork, developmental documentation, and progress reports.
Recording & Reflection
By recording and reflecting on documented play, teachers are able to setup the environment in more meaningful ways to ensure greater learning opportunities.
Teachers support the children as the children plan their own curriculum. We provide them the tools they need to enhance their development. Teachers influence the environment with certain materials every day to ensure a more purposeful, well-rounded program for the children. We reach out to the parents to ensure that all needs are being met and get ideas from the parents to strengthen our program.
Infant (0 to 18 months)
Our program is geared to provide a nurturing and loving environment. Our teachers work together to provide a safe environment to allow the children to explore and develop socially, developmentally, and mentally. We understand that it is difficult for some parents leave their child which is why we work closely with the parents to give the care they would like for their child. We try our best to follow the family’s guidelines and routines to help with this difficult transition.
Toddler (18 months to 2.5 years)
Our toddler program is a busy and fun environment where children are starting to move and develop new skills. They are learning every day and exploring their environment more than ever before. Our teachers will work hard to ensure all the children are gaining as much knowledge as they can. Our philosophy is learn through play as research has shown that children benefit in a rapid pace. With this our programming will be geared to children interest. We will look at what children are interested in and discuss those topics when they come. Our curriculum is child directed to ensure we have all the children focus while learning.
Preschool (2.5 to 4 years)
The focus of our preschool program is to get the children ready for school. We use the junior kindergarten curriculum and expectations as a basis to ensure all the children are ready for the next step in life. We will also be offering an hour of French three times a week to the families that would like their children to be exposed to the language before entering school. Our philosophy is learn through play as research has shown that children benefit in a rapid pace. With this our programming will be geared to children interest. We will look at what children are interested in and discuss those topics when they come. Our curriculum is child directed to ensure we have all the children focus while learning.
Before and After School (4 to 12 years)
Our focus for the program to be develop a relaxing and educational environment. We want to support the children with their homework when needed but also allow them to explore and engage with their friends. With the little time we have with this group we want to ensure that they have fun while building self-esteem.
Our Centre will also run PD, Christmas holiday, March Break, and summer holiday programs to ensure children are learning throughout the whole year.
